CHALLENGE
Our client identified a gap in the market for a youth hostel with a difference – a stylish, ‘boutiquey’ kind of place, offering an affordable, funky alternative for the 21st century traveller who really wants to get to know a city. The new hostel would be the polar opposite of the traditional youth hostel, with private twin rooms, ensuite bathrooms, girls-only floors, free wifi, relaxing lounge areas and more. A great idea. Now all it needed was a name and some serious branding.
SOLUTION
A funky, standout name – One80° – reflecting a) the position we sleep in and b) the perfect flip side to the traditional ‘cheap crash pad’ youth hostel experience. Trendy, vibrant and cool nightclub-esque styling, designed to have an instant connection with a young audience of explorers, adventure-lovers and thrill seekers between the ages of 18-29. An entirely social brand, with vibrant colours and evocative photography.
Result
A new brand launched successfully across on and offline platforms, ready to support the opening of the first One80° Hostel in Berlin in early 2012.
